New Feature: Negative Feedback reporting!
eBay enHancer can now add an option to the context menu to "view Negative Feedback" for eBay members. Here's how it works:
Right-clicking any of the following types of links within ebay will add an option to view negative feedback:
- A link to an ebay member's My World page
- A link to an ebay member's Feedback profile
- A link to any ebay item.
Basically, if you see a link to an ebay member or an ebay item, you can right-click it to view negative feedback.
When right-clicking an eBay item link, you will see an option to view negative feedback for the seller - you don't need to find who the seller is first. eBay enHancer will find the seller for that item, then show you negative feedback for that member.
This means on search results pages you can simply right-click an ebay item link to view negative feedback for the seller of that item!
When you click to view negative feedback, a new tab will open and eBay enHancer will begin gathering and displaying negative and neutral feedback for that member.
You can filter the display to show only negatives, only neutrals, or both.
In eBay enHancer's settings window you can choose how many results you want displayed. The default is 500, but you can show up to 1000 if you'd like.
You can also determine how fast you'd like eBay enHancer to retrieve the info by choosing how many simultaneous connections you'd like to use to get the info from eBay. The more connections, the faster the results, but more resources are used.
You can choose anywhere from 1 to 5 connections depending on the speed of your internet connection and your computer. The default is 3, but if you're using high-speed internet and have a reasonably fast computer, 5 should work well.
This new feature is in its infancy, but seems to be working well. Toolhaus.org used to have a firefox extension to do this, but it no longer works. It's something I really missed and have been wanting to implement this for quite awhile.
I'd also appreciate feedback as to how the report page looks. I place a lot of importance on proper presentation, so it uses a lot of fancy and complicated formatting to get everything "just right." I'm hoping it displays correctly for everyone. I've only tested this in Firefox 3 in Vista right now.
Changed: Default update interval for automatic updates changed from 1 hour to 4 hours. This was done to maintain the default update interval when upgrading from previous versions.
Fixed: As of this version, all users reporting page-refresh problems have reported the problem fixed!
Improved: Various minor tweaks to clean up display of bid update messages.
Improved: Automatic currency update intervals can now be chosen by the user - either 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 or 240 minutes.
Those who are comfortable with about:config can change 'AutoUpdateMinutes' to a custom value if you don't like the values above. However, the program will still enforce rules that the minimum update time is 30 minutes and maximum update time is 24 hours. Any values outside those ranges will be adjusted accordingly.
Changed: Automatic currency updates now occur once per hour instead of every 4 hours. The new currency system uses much less bandwidth than the original system, so automatic updates can be performed more often to keep rates even more accurate.
Changed: Minor changes to the display of bid update information on the Bid History page.
Bug fix: More code added to attempt to resolve (still) existing page-refresh issues on Item Detail pages viewed by linking from the Item Summary page.
New option: Under the "Bid Update" section, there is an option to not use the bid update feature on the Bid History page. Basically, if you don't need the bid information on the Bid History page updated in real time, it's probably best to check this option. It is NOT checked by default. Email me if you want the down-n-dirty technical reason behind this option.
Fixed: Countdown timer was not being displayed on Bid History page for those users not converting eBay times to their local time. This has been fixed.
Improved: Countdown timer and Bid update feature now included on Bid History Page.
Changed: When bid updates are running in the background, sometimes eBay requires the user to enter a verification code. This code must be entered manually and cannot be done by eBay enHancer. eBay enHancer has a way around this requirement, but bid information may not be updated as quickly as usual.
So, a new message in red indicating this condition will be displayed to the user if necessary.
Changed: Consolidated settings in the "total price" section of the settings window.
Fixed: After changing settings, new settings were being applied to all open eBay pages even when this option was not chosen. This has been fixed.
Fixed: When more than one auction alarm tried to play within the same browser session, any alarm after the first one would have no sound. This has been fixed.
Bug fix: Reworked the page-reload problem. Let's hope this fixes it for everyone. 1.8.0.6 fixed it for most people, but not all. This has been a very difficult bug to pinpoint!
New option: Under the "Annoyances" section you can now choose to hide those annoying flash-based item scrollers found at the bottom of many item detail pages. These seem to be more and more popular, but personally, I find them very annoying, not to mention they waste bandwidth by continually loading new images the entire time the page is open.
Currently this option will hide scrollers and related images for Auctiva and Vendio. Once hidden, they become inoperable which will help preserve bandwidth.
Bug fix: Still working on bug fix for the page reload problem. Those having the problem should try this version and see if it is fixed. If so, I'd appreciate a quick email letting me know that version 1.8.0.6 fixed the problem.
Bug fix: Fixed problem whereby auctions ending in more than 1 day would continuously reload.
Bug fix: When not using currency conversion feature, prices in the Total column were not being properly displayed.
VERSION UNAVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD DUE TO BUG FIX. DOWNLOAD 1.8.0.3 INSTEAD
[IMPROVED] - Extensive currency support added. eBay enHancer now supports 162 different currencies "out of the box."
Lemme tell ya - this was a LOT of work as I had to inspect each individual currency to determine its proper formatting. However, the end result means no more having to request a custom currency and waiting for an update to include it. Whether you want total prices displayed in US Dollars or Tajikistani Somonis, you can likely do it.
[IMPROVED] - Currency formatting improved to more accurately display currencies which use different characters for decimal points, thousands separator, etc.
[IMPROVED] - Mouse hint added to Total Price column describing the currency being used. Hovering the mouse over the Total Price column heading displays the full name and symbol of the currency being used.
[IMPROVED] - Support added for displaying Unicode currency symbols (Asian, Eastern characters, etc).
[IMPROVED] - When updating currency rates, data is now retrieved in real time for up-to-the-second rates. Multi-threaded updates provide extremely quick results.
[CHANGED] - Currency options consolidated in the settings window for improved readability.
[CHANGED] - Initial options for new installations are now set to enable more features by default.
[FIXED] - currency rates were sometimes being updated when it was not necessary.
Bug fix: Default alarm sound does not play (file not found).
Added currency support for Lithuanian Litas (LTL)
Updated to work with Firefox 3.1
NOTE: This is the first beta with the new name change. myTimeZone for eBay has now become "eBay enHancer"
